The hairdressing training project began at Casa Balo in 2017. After attending classes at Balo English Medium School during the day, students interested in the program, return to Casa Balo for lessons on hair cutting, styling, and coloring.
Twice a year, European instructors arrive at Casa Balo and teach for a month. Donatella comes from Italy and provides lessons in coloring, cutting, washing, and styling. Betta often translates for her, and the students learn exceptionally from her skilled and practiced hand. Six months later, Delio arrives from Switzerland and compliments Donatella’s instruction with added ideas and formalized procedures.
During the rest of the year, Sony teaches the class, and the students practice what they have learned from their foreign instruction. The students enjoy the lessons and are thriving in learning a new skill.
